NFL Recap: Denver Narrowly Beat Hapless Jets in Low-Scoring Affair
During a low-scoring contest on Sunday, the Broncos managed to secure a close victory over the winless New York Jets. Signal-caller Bo Nix connected on a first-quarter touchdown pass and specialist Wil Lutz provided the late decisive three-pointer to secure the hard-fought win.
Defensive Performance Seals Game
Despite registering nine sacks against Jets quarterback Justin Fields, the Broncos found themselves trailing 11-10 after conceding a safety in the third quarter. Interestingly, the Jets managed a mere 82 offensive yards during the entire game.
The Denver quarterback, who went 19 of 30 attempts for 174 yards, led a critical 12-play, 65-yard possession that culminated in Lutz's short kick with approximately five minutes remaining.
Historic Difficulties for Jets Offense
Despite their horrendous offensive display, the Jets still had possession with a opportunity to drive for a possible winning score. However Fields was sacked on fourth-and-eight from the Denver 44 after head coach Aaron Glenn opted to go for it instead of sending out specialist Nick Folk for a difficult field-goal attempt.
The Jets quarterback had difficulties throughout, connecting on just 9 of 17 attempts for 45 yards. New York ended up with minus-10 net yards passing, the fewest in any game since 1998.
"Our passing game was completely absent," Glenn commented after the contest.
