Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Claims Involving Player the Athlete
The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and were in contact with the NFL.
The team did not mention Rice specifically in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.
Allegations Shared on Instagram
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice by name, shared a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.
Police Reports Currently Not on File
No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.
Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles
Rice was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that left multiple people hurt. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.
Statistically, he concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
